Maternity Photos

I am so excited that we got our maternity photos today!  They all turned out great, but below are some of our favorites.  We plan to put some up in the Nursery as well as all around our apartment.  I'm so pleased with how they came out!

We also got some pictures with a wooden letter of Baby Flinn's first initial, but since we aren't sharing his name yet, those pictures are under lock and key!

Fall is Here!

Fall is officially here!  The temperatures have dropped to the mid 60s/low 70s and I've been enjoying having the windows open during the day!  I took out my fall decorations from last year and got a few new things for this year.   I was happy that I didn't have to buy too many new things this year since I already had the wreath, some pumpkin candles, and I was able to reuse a vase and picture frame.  The small pumpkins were only 4 for $2 at our local nursery and I found the ceramic pumpkin for a good price at Walmart!  I also love how free printables can automatically help bring a season or holiday into your house!

When Halloween gets a little closer, I plan to add in some jack-o-lantern decorations, but for right now I like being surrounded by things that remind me of Fall!

31 Weeks!

How far along?  31 weeks
Baby Size: Baby Flinn weighs 3 lbs 10 oz (as of Thursday)
Total weight gain/loss:  26 lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  Sleep is definitely improving.  I guess I'm getting used to getting up for the bathroom every day night at 4am and I'm able to fall back to sleep pretty easily.
Best moment this week:    Going to our ultrasound and finding out that valementous cord insertion is actually marginal and that Baby Flinn is growing great and that there is no longer a cause for concern.
Miss Anything?  Not really anything.
Movement:  He is moving constantly!  At our childbirth class she suggested drinking a sugary drink and then counting kicks.  One night we did this and Chris was able to feel him kick A LOT!  Chris asked how I could fall asleep with him doing that... I told him I can't lol!  The ultrasound technician said he was moving a lot too!    Thursday night Chris was feeling him kick, then he loudly said "Hello Baby Flinn" and on cue there was a very strong kick back!
Food Cravings:  I definitely prefer sweet things, candy, ice cream, and fruit.  I've been trying to pick fruit whenever I am in the mood for something sweet!
Anything making you queasy or sick?  This week I was okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  Thankfully, no!
Symptoms:  The sciatica and swollen hands are still there.  Thankfully the valementous cord insertion is now marginal and not an issue anymore.  The heartburn seems to come and go.
Belly Button in or out?  Protruding more each day.
Wedding rings on or off? Nothing's changed... they are still off.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Very happy!
Looking forward to:  The crisp fall weather.  And getting to see the results from our Maternity Photo Session.

Boy how I've grown.  Same dress at 20 weeks and again at 31 weeks!

Maternity Photos Sneak Preview

This morning Chris and I went for a maternity photo session with Tanya Charlesworth.  We went to the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown and got some great shots with the beautiful nature as our backdrop.  She posted a sneak peak on Facebook within 1 hour of our shoot!  We can't wait to see all the pictures!

We definitely enjoyed working with Tanya and would totally recommend her!

30 Weeks... only 70 days left!

How far along?  30 weeks
Baby Size: size of a squash... will find out his official weight on Thursday!
Total weight gain/loss:  25+ lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  Sleep was harder this week because of my head cold.  Being stuffed up and then the cough made it very hard to sleep through the night.
Best moment this week:    Going to see the SNL rehearsal... it was nice to get out of the house for an evening.
Miss Anything?  This week I missed being able to take Dayquil/Nyquil!  I had a pretty bad head cold and I had to suffer through.  Thank goodness I was home and able to sleep as much as I needed to!
Movement:  All the time!  Now I'll get more full shifty movements instead of the random "kicks".
Food Cravings:  This week wasn't bad.  I think being sick suppressed my appetite for a few days.
Anything making you queasy or sick?  Sometimes smells still get to me, but it's been okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  Thankfully, no!
Symptoms:  The same as before - Sciatica and Valementous Cord Insertion.  I also have swollen hands and feet (feels like I have arthritis) and the heartburn at night.    We go for another ultrasound on Thursday to see how the Valementous Cord Insertion is doing.
Belly Button in or out?  In but sometimes I think I can see it starting to come out when I wear fitted shirts.
Wedding rings on or off?  Still off.  I've realized I will have to wait til after Baby Flinn comes and then decide whether they need to be resized.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!   I do find myself tearing up more easily at commercials and tv shows.
Looking forward to:  Having our maternity photos taken!

SNL 38th Season Premiere

Saturday night, Chris and I had the opportunity to go see the dress rehearsal of SNL.  For the last few years Chris has entered the lottery for tickets but he always did it mid August and never had any success.  This year, he did it on August 1st (the first day he was able to).  Friday night, Chris got an email saying he won the lottery and was given 2 tickets for the dress rehearsal the very next day!  Chris did some research on blogs of what the rehearsal was like and he read some really cool things about it.

We drove to the city and got there at 5 and had dinner at Ruby Foo's.  We then walked the 2 blocks over to 30 Rock to pick up our actual tickets.  They told us we had to be there by 6:45 at the latest, and since we always like to be early, we got there at 6:15.  After we were given our tickets we waited in the line until about 7:15 when they brought us upstairs.  While waiting in the line I was starting to have some back pain, but thankfully a security guard came over and asked if I was doing okay and if I'd like a chair.  It's like he read my mind!  It was definitely easier to wait sitting in the comfortable chair!

When the time came, they took us through metal detectors so we could go upstairs to the 8th floor for the Dress Rehearsal.  They told us that once you went upstairs you weren't able to use a restroom, which made me a little nervous, but thankfully they didn't stop me from bringing a bottle of water and some skittles in my bag.  It's the little things that make me happy :)  The only rules they did have were no pictures and to turn your phone off.

When we got upstairs they took our tickets and gave us wrist bands instead.  I'm so glad we took a picture of our tickets to remember the night by!  We were then directed to our seats.  At first we were seated in the farthest corner in the second row.  I noticed that there were seats still available in one section closer to the middle, but one row back.  We decided to move to those seats so we'd get to see more of the sets throughout the show.  I'm so glad we did, because when Jason Sudekis came out to "warm up the crowd" he described the seats we were previously in as the worst seats in the place.  There were definitely some sets we weren't able to see, but thankfully they had monitors everywhere so you can see exactly what's going on.  We learned that during the rehearsal they go through it exactly like they would for the real thing (with commercials, fast changes, and only one take per skit).  However, they do a few extra skits and the whole show was 2 hours instead of an hour and a half.  They then decide what skits or jokes to omit based on the audience's laughter and timing.

Seth MacFarlane was the host and he was really funny.  In general I was so impressed with everyone... it's amazing how they can get through the whole show with one take and how quickly they have to change for one scene to the next.  Frank Ocean was the musical guest.  Neither of us were really that familiar with his music, but he was actually really good.  There was a girl sitting in the row in front of us who absolutely LOVED him and went crazy when he came out... we think she actually started crying!  John Mayer also came out with him and had some guitar solos.

There were two highlights of the show for us.  First, there was a skit in the Lids store where Psy came out and did his Gangnam Style dance and second, was the Ryan Lochte part during The Weekend Update.

This morning we decided to watch the show and see if anything had changed.  A few skits were removed (which we knew would happen), the last skit was drastically shortened, and a few jokes were changed slightly.  While some people might prefer to get tickets to the actual show, I ended up being very happy that we got tickets to the Dress Rehearsal.  We got to see more skits than those who went to the real show and we got to see the changes that were made between 10pm (when we left) and 11:30 (when the real show started).  I am so glad that Chris was proactive and entered the lottery and got us tickets... it was really a once in a lifetime thing to do.

Sleep:  This week wasn't bad.
Best moment this week:    My Baby Shower!
Miss Anything?  Being worry free... it seems that I worry about everything now.
Movement:  He's moving constantly.  I've been told to start doing kick counts and so far it seems I've got nothing to worry about since he's moving all the time!

Baby Flinn's Shower

I had my baby shower yesterday.  It was held at Trio, an Italian restaurant located down the street from my parents' house.  The shower had a similar theme to the nursery... Grey, Blue, and Green Elephants!

My mom planned the shower, and Trisha (my sister in law) helped out.  The details were perfect... I loved the look of the room.

My mom with me and Trisha (and her two new grandkids)

My mother-in-law brought the cake... it was as delicious as it looks!

My guests were super generous and it was so much fun to spend the afternoon with them.

The afternoon was amazing and I am so happy I was able to celebrate with my family and friends!

Chris came at the end to say hi and to help load up all the gifts :)
