One of my goals for 2016, was to take a photo of Noah each month. While I take lots of iPhone photos, I wanted to take the time to use my DSLR and get at least one photo of him each month that shows his personality, his interests, and reflects the current season. I hope that at the end of the year I will have an amazing collection of photos that represents our year. So when I saw Stephanie post about The Picture Perfect Project I knew I wanted to participate!
Last week, Noah and I went on a nature walk with my parents. This is now the third year that we've done this for my dad's birthday (here's our walk from 2015 and 2014). It's been really fun to see how Noah and this nature walk have evolved over the years. Noah has always enjoyed being out in nature, but I love that now he's the one pointing out things to us. I'm amazed at what he knows and the information that he's retaining. I had no clue he knew the word nectar let alone know that it was part of the whole bee and flower process!
This year, we went to the same park that we've always gone to, but we went down a new trail. We had some beautiful weather, if not a little warm for October. While I had hoped for more fall foliage, it was fun to see the bees and butterflies and all the pretty flowers.
The week leading up to our walk, Noah was saying he didn't want to go if daddy couldn't come with us. But since Chris had to work, it was either go without him or not go at all. We talked about doing something else for my dad's birthday, but then Chris told Noah that it was okay for us to go without him. Chris then gave Noah a list of things for him to look for on our walk and asked to see photos of what we found. This got Noah excited for the walk again and I was so happy that Chris "gave him permission" to go and have fun!
First up on daddy's list... an insect that flies. At first we saw a butterfly, but man are they near impossible to photograph. The bees though, there were tons of them and were a lot easier to photograph!
^^^ we were really surprised to find out that these brown dead looking flowers used to be purple!
We found this lake and were trying to come up with our own names for it. My mom called it muddy lake and my dad called it chocolate lake. But Noah's name for it was the best, and quite predictable... poopy lake!
Noah loves reading maps... and I love taking photos!
I put on my dad's hat, and Noah told me I looked like an old man!!! We couldn't stop laughing!
Another item on Chris' list for Noah to look for was a stick taller than him... so we searched, and we eventually found one!
Chris also asked that he look for ducks. And while we normally see them in this main pond, we didn't find any at first. Instead, we found something even better... a bunch of turtles sitting on a log!
But the turtles weren't enough, we ended up seeing the ducks (a lot of them) at the very end of our walk, on the other side of that lake!

Have you been enjoying Fall so far? Have the leaves started to change where you are?
