A Day in the Life

I'm back today with another "A Day In The Life" posts. I decided I wanted to do these quarterly to really see how our lives change throughout the year. I love reading other posts just like this, maybe it's because I'm naturally curious, or nosey! Hopefully you enjoy reading these kinds of posts as well :) You can see all of my "A Day in the Life" posts here.  Noah is now in school 3 mornings a week and has swim another morning.  So each week, we have one day with no regularly scheduled obligations.  Here's how we typically spend our "free" Tuesdays.

Today is Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Chris is 38, I am 32, and Noah is ALMOST 4 years old.

7am... Noah wakes up.  Since we still co-sleep, we wake up in the same bed and like to start our mornings slowly.  He immediately asks if Daddy is home.  Unfortunately daddy's long gone by the time Noah wakes up since he leaves by 6am to catch the train to NYC.  I let Noah have some time watching his iPad while I scroll through emails, social media, and a few blogs.  We also make sure to fit in some morning snuggles and take a trip to the bathroom before getting up for good.

8 am... we are up and out of bed.  On Tuesdays, I change the sheets and wash the bedding.  Noah loves helping me strip both beds by pretending to be a bulldozer and pushing the sheets to the floor.  I throw one of the sets into the washing machine.

8:45... since Noah doesn't have school on Tuesdays, we tend to take our time in the mornings.  Staying in pajamas and watching a show or two while we drink our breakfast smoothies.

9 am... Noah is pretty good at playing while watching TV, so I really don't mind having it on in the background.  And Daniel Tiger is always good in my book.  Since Noah is entertained, I take the opportunity to iron Chris' shirts for the week.

9:45... The first set of sheets are done, so I switch them to the dryer and ask Noah if he wants to help put his sheets in the washing machine.  It's hit or miss whether he wants to help or has no interest.  But I like to play it safe and ask, because he's been known to get upset cause he thinks I should have known that that particular time he wanted to help.

^^^ still rocking the mismatched Hanna PJs and bringing his stool anywhere there's help needed!

10:30... I've started showering more at night so that I can get ready faster in the morning.  I let Noah watch one more show while I head upstairs to get dressed, curl my hair, and put some makeup on.  A quick photo of my outfit and I'm ready to go!

11am... After getting Noah dressed, we head out to meet my mom at the mall.  Noah fell asleep on the way there, but he happily woke up when we get there.  Before meeting my mom, we headed over to Crate and Barrel to replace a dinner plate I recently dropped on the floor.  Then we met my mom at the fountain to let Noah throw in countless pennies.  For about 50 cents to a dollar, Noah is happy as a clam.  Let's just say that this is much cheaper than rewarding him with a toy when we go to Target!

12:15... we have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.  While we wait for our food to come, Noah introduces Grandma to his new favorite YouTube show, "Bernard the Polar Bear".  After lunch, I did a return at Loft and replaced some makeup I was just about to run out of.    I could tell Noah was getting tired, because despite having the stroller, he wanted me to carry him so he could play with my hair.  My mom and I were commenting that he'd most likely fall asleep on the way home, to which he quickly responded, "Yup!".

2:15... And yes, he fell asleep as soon as we got in the car and stayed asleep for the transfer.  I didn't really want him to take a super long nap, so I put him on the couch and then proceeded to do work on my laptop and watch Dancing with the Stars sitting right next to him. I guess he was tired, because despite going about my business, he still slept until 4pm.  Isn't it funny how when we want our kids to nap and we tiptoe around them, they seem to wake up with the slightest noise.

4pm... When Noah woke up from his nap, I tried to convince him to go for a walk with me or at least go ride his bike.  He wasn't interested and instead chose to play with his toys inside.

5:45... I made pasta for dinner.  I had it with meat sauce while Noah ate it plain.  I put the leftovers away so Chris could have some when he got home.

7pm... Chris is finally home, and Noah bugs him the entire time he's eating his dinner to help him do this dinosaur sticker book.  I help him while he waits for daddy, but as soon as Chris is done, Noah wants nothing to do with me.

Since Noah napped, I let the boys play for longer than usual.  Then it was time for a bath.  When Chris is home, this is there time.  I edited my photos from the day and did some work on my computer.  I then step in to get his pajamas on and teeth brushed.  We read a few books and then say goodnight to daddy.  I can't remember exactly what time Noah fell asleep, but I'm thinking it was around 9:30.  Not ideal considering he had school the next day, but this is pretty normal when he naps.  I'm pretty exhausted, so I go to bed shortly after.

So there you have it, a pretty typical day when we don't have anywhere we have to be.

A Day in the Life | Summer Edition

I'm back today with another "A Day In The Life" posts. I decided I wanted to do these quarterly to really see how our lives change throughout the year. I love reading other posts just like this, maybe it's because I'm naturally curious, or nosey! Hopefully you enjoy reading these kinds of posts as well :) You can see all of my "A Day in the Life" posts here

Today is Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Chris is 38, I am 32, and Noah is 3 1/2 years old.

7am... my alarm goes off.  Normally I don't use an alarm and let Noah wake up on his own, but since we have camp every day this week, I don't want to risk sleeping in too late.  Noah is still asleep, so I read some emails and catch up on a few blogs.

7:15... Noah stirs and asks for me to snuggle with him.  He falls back to sleep.  I roll away and continue reading blogs.

7:50... I finally get up and start getting ready.  Since I showered last night, I just need to fix my hair and put some makeup on before getting dressed.  While I'm doing this, Noah wakes up.

8:25... we are downstairs, eating yogurt for breakfast.

8:41... it's "Water Day" at Dino Camp, so Noah gets to wear his swim suit.  While he puts his shoes on, I make sure I have his towel and change of clothes packed.  Many mornings he seems to take forever in these last steps of going to the bathroom, doing his hair, and putting his shoes on, but this morning he's doing a good job and we get out the door fairly quickly.

9am... drop Noah off at camp.  He barely even says goodbye to me and is excited to go in and play with play-doh!

9:23... I'm back home, on my laptop while catching up on a few shows.  Noah is good at running errands and entertaining himself while I clean, so this week while he was at camp, I decided to do things that I can't really do while he's at home... catch up on all my computer stuff.  I make yearly photo albums using the digital Project Life products.  I make weekly pages about our family and monthly pages for a "Noah" book.  I will keep the family albums and Noah will get to take his own albums when he moves out.  Recently I've gotten a little behind on Noah's album, so I spent Noah's camp time catching up!  I also watched Pretty Little Liars and Fixer Upper :)

11:55... back at Noah's camp to pick him up.  He had another great day at camp!  His teacher told me that his nail was looking weird and that Noah had complained it was hurting, so she gave him a bandaid.  I knew his nails were looking odd (a few were peeling off around the cuticle area), but since it was now bothering Noah, I decided to call the doctor.  They told me to bring him in for 2:40.  We head home, have a quick lunch, and then we head out to the grocery store.  We were really running low on a few of our favorites and needed to restock or produce!

1:49... We made it home just before the rain started.  Noah played while I put all the groceries away.

2:03... put our dinner in the crockpot.  I had planned to put it in earlier in the morning (set to low) but then realized I didn't have the salsa.  So I picked some up at the grocery store and set the crockpot to high instead.

2:20... leave for the doctor and arrive right at 2:40 for our appointment.  Noah keeps asking when it's his turn.  When we are still waiting at 3, the nurse asks if we'd rather see the nurse practitioner since our doctor is very behind schedule.  I agree since Noah's funky nails aren't really that serious anyway... I figure the N.P. can handle it ;)

3:25... I think we were in the waiting room longer than we were the exam room.  It turns out that Noah's peeling nails are a side effect of the coxsackie Noah had back at the end of May.  Apparently 4% of kids who get the virus also get peeling skin and nails.  Noah already had the peeling skin about a month ago and now is lucky enough to get the peeling nails as well.  She said it's no cause for concern but to watch that the dead nail doesn't catch on anything to pull it off too soon.  And if it starts to look infected to bring him in.  Otherwise, it's just a waiting game for them to grow out and the new nail to take it's place.

4:03... Noah fell asleep in the car but woke up as soon as I carried him in (it had started to rain).  Since he had a busy day so far, I let him just hang out and watch a little iPad.  I hate to admit that Noah watches more iPad than he should.  Meanwhile, I did some laundry and watched some more Fixer Upper :)

6 pm... the dinner I'm making won't be ready for a bit longer, and he's getting hungry.  And let's be honest, he probably wouldn't have wanted what I made anyway.  So instead, I offered him a hard boiled egg and some fruit and veggies.

6:35... the crockpot chicken is ready.  I love these simple kind of meals... just chicken breasts, a jar of salsa, and a packet of taco seasoning into the crockpot for 4-6 hours on high (or 6-8 hours on low), shredded, and then served however you like.  I chose to eat mine in a tortilla wrap with some sour cream.  And the best part... I was able to leave the rest of the chicken warming in the crockpot for Chris to have when he got home.

6:51... on our way up for bath, I just happened to look outside and spot these wild turkeys in my backyard.  That's a mama turkey and her 10! babies.  I've seen the mama turkey before but this is the first time I've seen so many babies!  While we often see squirrels and the occasional bunny, this year we've seen so much wildlife walk through our backyard.  First we had the bear, we have twice as many squirrels playing in our yard this year, then I spotted a chipmunk who must be living in my side yard, and now these turkeys... we have a wild menagerie of animals!

7:03... time for bath!  Noah put up a fight at first, then compromised on a super quick bath, which then lead to a long bath filled with lots of playing and practicing his floating.  It always cracks me up how he says he doesn't want a bath and most times ends up loving it!

7:28... time for books.  Teeth have been brushed and pjs and pull up are on.  I read Noah a few books and then Noah "reads" me Brown Bear, Brown Bear.  Chris and I both love listening to him read this book to us.  It gives me a glimpse into our future when he will actually be reading books to us!

7:30... Chris comes home and quickly eats dinner while I finish reading to Noah.  He then comes upstairs to watch a few iPad shows with Noah before bed.  While they do that, I take a quick shower.

8:30... I kick Chris out so Noah can go to sleep.  While I wish they could have more time together at night, Noah needs to get to bed!  Noah and I chat about our day, I ask him what his favorite part was, and we discuss what we are going to do tomorrow.  As usual, he tries to negotiate more iPad and delay bedtime, but I tell him to close his eyes, stop talking, and try to fall asleep for 5 minutes.  As always, he falls fast asleep!

9:15... I go blow dry my hair and get ready for bed.  I do a little work on my computer, and then off to bed myself.

Today is Wednesday, February 17, 2016.  Chris is 38, I am 31, and Noah is 3 years old.

6:50... I wake up when Noah wakes up.  Chris is already long gone... he leaves for work at 6 am.  Noah asks for his iPad, but before giving it to him, I ask him if he slept well.  He says yes, and then asks me the same thing, but it sounds way cuter when he says it ;)  We both slowly wake up... he watches some YouTube shows while I check my email and read a few blogs.

7:35... I get Noah dressed, he chooses to wear his robot underwear and then finds his robot shirt from the closet.  We are still super new to potty training, so he's very excited to pick out his underwear each morning.  He does a little dance for me in his underwear, pretending to be a robot.   I then leave him to do some dinosaur stickers so I can get dressed, put my contacts in, and put on a little bit of makeup.

8:05... We head downstairs for his vitamins and some breakfast.  This morning, Noah wants a banana "monkey", which is really just a Dannon smoothie.   He then talks me into letting him have some Nila wafers... I feel like he just had a slight variation of the banana pudding dessert for breakfast.  I guess we both love bananas because I had a bananas and cream greek yogurt.

8:15... my dad comes over to work on a few things around the house.  At the moment he has figured out away to super clean my shower.  I'm a tad embarrassed to admit that I need help cleaning my shower, but I've been unable to get rid of some mold because it was trapped underneath the silicone caulking on the glass door/wall.  My dad to the rescue... he removed the silicone and did some deep cleaning with some foaming bleach cleaner.  He went straight upstairs to get to work while Noah and I played downstairs.  There were many times where my dad would be asking where something was at the same time Noah requested a drink or needed help going to the potty.  My dad joked that it was like I had two kids this morning ;)

9 am... Noah and I did a few puzzles before we had to leave for swimming.  Since we are still very early in our potty training process, I still change him into a diaper or pull up when we leave the house.  So I changed him into a diaper, packed up his swim bag and a few snacks, and we were out the door by 9:30.

10 am... Noah had his swim class with Miss Mary.  He loves swim class and seems to enjoy it even more now that he's no longer in the mommy and me class.  Not sure if I should be offended, but honestly I enjoy it more too ;)

10:45... After swim class, I get him dried and dressed and we are on our way to run some errands.  Usually we head straight home, but I had some errands that I needed to run. I had hoped to do them on Tuesday, but I decided to stay in because of the snow/ice on the roads.  While we were out my dad informed me that not only did he clean my shower, but he also installed the new drawer front to our butcher block island.  A few weeks ago it came off in my hand when I opened the drawer and we noticed that the wood had split.  We ordered a new drawer and since it just recently arrived, my dad decided to help by installing it.

11:05... My mom met Noah and me to run a few errands.  We hit Walmart, Target, and Home Depot.  My list didn't seem that long, but it took us nearly 2 hours before we were completely done.  Noah picked out a few "pooping on the potty" prizes and we checked out all the new Easter stuff.  I couldn't help but laugh when I saw this giant Paw Patrol Marshall basket.  Noah said he wanted it but I firmly said no.  Instead, we got a less tacky cardboard basket with four of the pups on it instead.  I'm also kind of proud of myself for getting some wood cut at Home Depot for a project I'm working on.  Not sure why I'm proud... it's not like I cut the wood myself.  But part of me felt silly even asking for help, so I'm glad I followed through.  The guys were super nice and helpful too :)

1:30... On our way home from running errands, we stopped to have a quick (and late) lunch at Taco Bell.  I consider it to be one of my guilty pleasures :)

2:45...  When we got home, I unloaded the car while Noah played.  I changed him back into his underwear and I let him watch a show.  We then headed upstairs to take a shower and get changed into some comfy clothes.  Noah spent the rest of the afternoon going back and forth between coloring in his Paw Patrol coloring book to watching a few shows on TV.  His favorites today were Mickey Mouse Club, Sheriff Callie, Doc McStuffins, and Miles from Tomorrowland.  After a busy morning out, I figured he deserved some downtime.  And we definitely watch more TV in the winter when we can't go outside to play as much.   TV time also meant I got to sit and relax and even peruse the new JCrew catalog ;)

4:30... Noah requests a snack and chooses to have his new Ninja Turtle Gogurts we just got at the store today.  I was a little hesitant to get this kind for him since it came with cherry, a flavor he never had before, but he was pretty adamant that he wanted the Ninja Turtle box.  Thank goodness he likes the cherry flavor just as much as he likes the strawberry ones!

5:50... When Chris works late, Noah and I keep dinner really simple.   He wasn't really that hungry since we had a late lunch and an afternoon snack, so tonight he just had cheese, crackers, and an apple.  I heated up some leftover ziti for myself and we watched some DocMcStuffins :)  I then cleaned up the kitchen and folded some laundry.  We also made another run to the potty and I was glad when Noah didn't immediately ask what his prize was.  Maybe the need for pooping prizes will fade away on its own :)

6:45... Time for bed.  Now that Noah isn't napping, he goes to bed much earlier.  I especially prefer the earlier bedtime when Chris works late.  I get Noah his milk in his new and favorite Paw Patrol cup and a water for myself.  Then it's time for a night diaper, some spaceship pajamas, and teeth brushing.  I let him watch a few more YouTube clips on his iPad and he's fast asleep by 7 pm.

7:05... I get the text from Chris that he is finally leaving work and he'll be home around 9.  These late nights are brutal on him.  While it's not the easiest doing everything for Noah on my own, it's not as bad now that Noah is 3 and talking... we definitely have a routine down.  But it may explain why I let him watch a little more TV than others might.   I spend the rest of the evening reading and drafting this blog post.  I'll probably watch some Pretty Little Liars before Chris gets home.  Super exciting night, huh?

Til next time :)

A Day in the Life

I'm back today with another "A Day In The Life" posts.  I decided I wanted to do these quarterly to really see how our lives change throughout the year.  I love reading other posts just like this, maybe it's because I'm naturally curious, or nosey!  Hopefully you enjoy reading these kinds of posts as well :)  Here are my posts from August 2015May 2015February 2015November 2014August 2014May 2014January 2014, and April 2013.

Today is Tuesday, November 10th.  Chris is 37, I am 31, and Noah is 3 years old.

7:30... Noah wakes up and asks if daddy is home.  I check to see what time it is and I'm pleased that Noah slept til 7:30 (yesterday he was up at 6:30).  I would have loved it even more if he did this on a non-school day, but this just means we have less time to get ready.  I had originally wanted Noah to take a shower before school, but I know Noah likes to wake up slowly and watch some iPad before getting up.  So instead, I leave him to do that while I shower alone.

8:10... I get Noah dressed and we head downstairs for breakfast.  He likes to play while he eats his pancakes,  but this morning I feel like quite the nag since we didn't have as much time before leaving for school.  I had to remind him to take breaks from playing and eat while I had my own breakfast (and vitamins).

jacket (old Tommy Hilfiger) | shoes (old Loft)

8:35... We are out the door and off to school!  Noah plays with a little toy truck and we count the school buses... only 5 this morning!  As we were driving, it started to rain.  Nothing crazy but I wish I wore a coat with a hood!

8:50... I drop Noah off at school and he walks right in.  I was a little worried he might not be gung ho about school since we hadn't been for a whole week (last Thursday they didn't have school because of teacher convention).  But thankfully he was super excited to go and went in without a problem.  I stop by the director's office to give her the paperwork confirming Noah got his flu shot, and then I'm out the door!  This morning I have a dentist appointment and drive straight there.

9:30-10:15... I get my teeth cleaned and get to watch some Live with Kelly & Michael while getting my back massaged in the chair :)  My mother-in-law works at the dentist so I get to chat with her a little bit too.

10:30...  I'm back at home and decide to be super productive today.  Often I will do things on the computer, but today I decide to go through Noah's clothes that are either out of season or no longer fit.  I fill three bins... stuff he wore last fall (that I plan to give to a good friend),  stuff from spring that is one size too small, and then his summer clothes that technically still fit but are obviously out of season.

11:30... I realize I have 10 minutes before I need to go pick up Noah, so I quickly write a few thank you cards for some birthday gifts Noah received and put them in the mailbox.  Our mailman usually comes around lunchtime, so I made it just in time!

11:55... I get to Noah's school, drop a few donations off for his school fundraiser as well as some of our Halloween candy to donate to the troops.  I pick up Noah and find out that since they couldn't go outside to play (because of the rain), that they played in the cultural hall and did the parachute!

12:15... We arrive at home and Noah immediately goes to play while I get lunch ready.  I put a plate together for Noah (leftover rotisserie chicken, muenster cheese, yellow peppers, and some cucumber) while I make myself a chicken quesadilla and some chips with guacamole.  Noah is such a grazer that it takes until almost 2 pm for him to finish everything!  I then let him watch a few TV shows while I get changed into sweatpants  (since we will be staying in the rest of the day) and call to make a hair appointment.

2:10... I let Noah watch some iPad, while I do some work on my laptop.  Judge me all you want, but after a busy morning (either at school or out with me), I have no problem letting him unwind with some screen time.  Noah has recently given up regular naps, but I'm hoping that he might fall asleep!

3:15... Noah watches a few YouTube shows and then comes to snuggle next to me.  Next thing I know he's asleep!  My mom stops by to drop off his Christmas sweater (that will match his cousins) and he doesn't even wake up from the doorbell.  I put a blanket on him and leave him to sleep on the couch while I catch up on some Tivo'd shows :)

blanket

5:15... Noah wakes up and wants to snuggle.  I absolutely love that he still loves to hug and hang out with me... physical contact is totally his love language!  He then plays while I start to make dinner.  I realize right away that I'm out of the parchment paper I need to blind bake my pie crust (for a quiche).  A quick text to my mom and she's coming back over with some parchment paper she had at her house... she's the best!  Since she's coming back over, I have Noah try on the two sizes of sweaters she had dropped off to see which one fit.  We would have preferred something that was "in between", but decided to keep the smaller one since the bigger one looked massive on him!  Noah loved the sweater so much that he wouldn't take it off!

sweater

5:45... Noah says he's hungry so I ask him what he'd like for dinner.  The dinner I'm making won't be ready for a while and I know he won't eat the quiche anyway.  He asks for cereal and then has a few gogurts.

7:10... Chris' train was delayed by about 15 minutes tonight, so he walked through the door around 7.  We talk about Noah's day at school and how he actually napped today and we sit down for our quiche dinner.

7:25... We eat dinner fast because Chris wants to get straight to playing with Noah.  They immediately go down to the basement and I'm left to do whatever I want!  First I clean up the toys in the living room and then I decide to peruse the Crate & Barrel and Land of Nod catalogs that came today while finishing my glass of wine.  I rarely drink, especially during the week, but we had an open bottle in the fridge that I'd hate to go to waste!

7:45... I head upstairs to wash my face, brush teeth, and change into my pajamas.  I work on some blog posts (including this one) while the boys continue playing.  I hear them occasionally come up to the living room to get a new toy.  Since Noah had a nap and they seem to be having fun, I let them be.

8:30... Noah decides he wants to come up.  We go through his bedtime routine of brushing teeth and getting into PJs.  Then it's time for a few books... we read 5 tonight as a family and get a little silly :)

9:10... then it's time for bed!  I watch a show before going to sleep myself :)

What does a typical day look like for you?

A Day In The Life

I'm back today with another "A Day In The Life" posts.  I decided I wanted to do these quarterly to really see how our lives change throughout the year.  Here are my posts from May 2015February 2015November 2014August 2014May 2014January 2014, and April 2013.

Today is Tuesday, August 11th.  Chris is 37, I am 31, and Noah is 2 3/4 years old.

6:45... Noah wakes up.  We co-sleep, so I wake up when Noah wakes up.  He asks for his iPad and apple juice.  We have a cooler in Noah's room that we put an apple juice in each night so that I don't have to go downstairs first thing in the morning.   Noah goes and grabs his juice while I get the iPad.  This gives me some time to wake up slowly and read some blogs on my phone.

7:35... I hear the rain start... ugh!

7:38... Noah asks to go down.  I decide it's time to wash Noah's sheets.  Not because there was an accident or spill, but because they are looking a little sloppy.  The bed is up against the wall, so when I make it, I shove the blanket and sheets into the space between the bed and the wall.  After a little while, they get untucked and hard to put back in without moving the mattress out.  By the time this happens, I figure it's easier to just change the sheets completely... it usually happens after a week anyway ;)  Noah helps by throwing the "dirty" sheets over the banister while I start to make the bed with clean sheets.  This morning, he seems to be getting in my way overtime I move.  He is getting frustrated that he can't help more and wants to do the pillowcases before I'm done putting the sheets on.  A few tears but he is quickly distracted when I tell him it's time to help with the pillows.

8:05... Noah then grabs a book and asks me to read it to him.  It's a book he got a while ago but we hadn't read yet.  We take a breaks to wipe his runny nose and for a few random hugs.  He then asks for another, but we only get through half of the second book before he's done and ready to go.  I tell him we need to take a shower and get ready before heading downstairs.  Noah goes back and forth between preferring showers with me or baths with daddy at night.  But since Chris has been working late a lot recently, showers have become the norm.

8:25... After our shower, Noah picks out his shirt for the day... today he chose "Jake and the Never Land Pirates".  While I get ready, Noah watches another show on his iPad.  Today I just put some make up on and decide to let my hair air dry since it's raining out anyway.  Noah seems happy, so I decide to take advantage and fold the clean laundry from our trip this past weekend.

9 am... It's finally time to go downstairs and get some breakfast.  Today we decide to make a smoothie.  Usually I put either carrots or spinach/kale in addition to the fruit.  But today Noah says "no green" and I don't have any carrots.... so just fruit today.  We had a few more tears when Noah wanted to sit on the counter to put the fruit in the blender before I had even peeled the orange or cut the apple.  Then he got upset when I wouldn't let HIM cut the apple.  Not sure why that was a trigger today, since it's not like I've let him do that before!  I tried to talk to him calmly and explain things and then I admit I did lose my cool a bit.  We finally hugged it out and we drank our fruit smoothies while watching an episode of Paw Patrol.

9:20... I don't mind him watching a fair amount of TV, because he often will get down and play while a show is on.  He started assembling his Jake Duplo set and then took out his Paw Patrol activity book for some coloring and sticker time.

9:40 am... It was still raining pretty heavily outside, so I decided to show Noah by opening the front door.  He immediately wanted to get his rain boots on and check it out.  At first we just went out in his rain boots and jacket, but shortly after we were outside, he requested his umbrella.  He jumped in a few puddles on our driveway and had fun opening and closing the umbrella.  I was over the rain and asked him if we could go inside ;)  We dried off and Noah played some more.  He's very good at playing independently.

10:40... The rain finally stopped, so we got in the car to run some errands with my mom.  Noah fell asleep on the ride over to Target, so I let him sleep in the car while we waited for my mom to arrive.

11:15... We then grabbed a few things at Target as well as picked up a gift for a friend's birthday.  And since we went with my mom, Noah of course got to pick out a toy for himself too ;)  We then quickly ran into Costco to get a few basics... frozen strawberries, gum for Chris, and chocolate covered almonds (you know, just the necessities ;))  Since it was almost 1 when we finished, we decided to stop at McDonalds for lunch before heading home.

1:30... When we were leaving lunch, Noah asked if we could go back to Grandma's house and see Papa.  I kind of assumed he would fall asleep on the ride home, so I told him we could if he was awake.  I guess I forgot that he had a little catnap, because this kid was not tired!  So off we went to Grandma & Papa's house.  He immediately asked to "wash the animals", so he and Papa gave all the animal figures a bath in the kitchen sink.  We had taken off his clothes since we knew he'd get wet, and Noah then refused to put clothes back on when he was finished!

2:30... Noah spent the rest of the afternoon playing and making a huge mess of my parents' living room play room.  They played with blocks, legos, colored, and did play-doh.

4:45... It was getting late and Noah was hungry, but did not want to go home!  Instead, my mom gave him a snack and Noah asked to watch Elmo's Christmas Countdown (in August!!!).  After the movie, I finally insisted we go home so that I could put dinner on in time for when Chris would get home.

6 pm... If Noah is at all tired, driving in the car will put him to sleep.  We only live 10 minutes from my parents, and Noah fell asleep in the last 3 minutes :(.  I unloaded the car while Noah slept and then hoped that he would wake up when I brought him in.  He was fast asleep, so I instead just put him on the couch while I started dinner and then went on the computer while watching a show.

6:30-9pm... The rest of the night was far from ideal and I didn't take any pictures.  Maybe 10 minutes before I was supposed to put the chicken in the oven, Noah woke up very upset and only wanted to be held.  I held him and he fell back to sleep but I was not having luck putting him down.  Thankfully, I have a very understanding husband who put the chicken in the oven when he got home from work and prepared me a plate to eat with Noah on top of me.  Noah ended up waking up as I was eating and had some chicken too. I wondered if he'd want to go right back to sleep after eating, but he wanted to play instead.  He showed Chris his new Paw Patrol toy and they played with that, while I watched the Pretty Little Liars finale!!!  I usually watch it the day after, but I didn't want to see spoilers on who A was on social media, so I watched it on a 20 minute delay so I could still fast forward through the commercials.  When the show was over, I took Noah up to bed to wind down and he fell asleep very easily considering he had only been awake for a short period of time!

This was a pretty unusual day for us in terms of sleep.  I guess that's life with an almost 3 year old who will be transitioning out of naps soon.
