So yes, it's Wednesday and I'm recapping the weekend. To be fair though, it was a long weekend, so I'm really only one day behind... right? Originally, we kept this weekend free of plans because we intended to spend our days at the pool. But then Hurricane Hermine was forecasted to hit, and we figured our pool plans were out the window. And while we didn't end up logging any hours at the pool, the weather turned out to be absolutely gorgeous, not even a drop of rain! Here's a little recap on how we spent the last unofficial weekend of Summer.
Chris had the day off and we had a day date at the US Open (you can read more about that here). Meanwhile, my parents came over to watch Noah. I got multiple texts and photos updating me on all their fun. My mom made him a scavenger hunt, they went for a walk to the playground, they made popcorn, and Noah even took a nap. It was a fun day for everyone, and we were all equally exhausted by the end of it!
While I was tempted to pull the covers over my head and sleep in, we were out of bed and at Home Depot by 9:30 for a Kids Workshop. We hadn't been in a while (since we've been doing the Avengers series at Lowes this summer) and were excited to be back. This month they made whiteboards and Noah was more interested in the marker than actually building the frame ;) This project was right up his alley though, since he loves asking us how to spell things and writing new words.
He really has quite the collection of pins now!
We had planned to go mini golfing after, but Noah was acting really tired. So instead, we ran some errands, found out Target now has mini carts!!!, and had lunch at McDonalds before heading home. Noah really must have been tired, because he fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep when I transitioned him to his bed. I was shocked that the kid who no longer naps, napped two days in a row! He must be growing! We had a low key afternoon... I edited photos while Chris and Noah came up with the funniest games, like putting Chris in "jail". Dinner was some simple, yet delicious, frozen ravioli that I ate while in my sweatpants. Our Saturday nights are pretty crazy, huh?

We made plans to meet some friends of ours (their son is in Noah's class) for breakfast. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were surprised to find out they were closed from the 2nd through the 10th. So we instead headed to a nearby diner where we got to sit outside. We ran into another family we know who said they came here after finding out the original restaurant was closed too!
^^^ I've recently started making Noah "Mickey pancakes" at home. When I told him we were going out for breakfast, he said he wanted Mickey pancakes. I told him we could ask for a large pancake and two minis so we could make our own. I told the waitress what we wanted, and they went above and beyond... how cute is this!?
And since it seems like I only photographed our meals, here's another one. We recently found out that Chipotle is having a promotion for the month of September where kids eat for free (with the purchase of a regular meal) on Sundays. Chris thought I was joking when I said that took care of my meal planning for Sundays... but really, I could eat Chipotle on a weekly basis no problem!
We then headed over to our local high school to take some photos of Chris and Noah throwing the football around in their Penn State jerseys. This is the third year we've done this and I love seeing how much Noah has grown (2015, 2014). I plan on sharing this year's photos tomorrow. After we were done throwing the football around, we went to play on the elementary school's playground, that just happens to be next to the high school. Noah had so much fun trying out each of the structures, and of course had to put daddy in jail one more time! Meanwhile, I realized Noah only has 2 more years before he will go to this school... and immediately started brainstorming ideas on how to slow down time!
On Sunday night, Noah was asking me (as he always does) what our plans for the next few days were. I told him that Daddy would be home again and that we were just hanging out. He was all bummed, asking why we didn't have any plans. So when he asked what we were doing on Tuesday, I told him we'd be going to the mall since I needed to do a few returns. He got all whiny and said he just wanted to stay home. Sometimes he makes no sense! So I switched our plans, decided to leave him home with daddy and head to the mall all by myself. It really was the best scenario... Noah got to have fun and I got to shop in peace. I even met my mom for lunch! We realized the last time we had lunch just the two of us was before Noah was born when we'd meet on my lunch break!
While the purpose of my trip was to return some things, I was so excited when I found some lace up flats!!! Please tell me I'm not the only one who always seems to find something when you go to make a return???
And I think it's safe to say Noah had way more fun with daddy than he would have at the mall with me! This kid was in heaven having Chris home and all to himself for 3 days.
How was your holiday weekend?
