Fun at the Carnival | The Expo

Is there anything better than a summer evening at your local carnival?  There's something about the kiddie rides, the cheap prizes you win at the games, and the greasy food that makes it the perfect family activity.  This was the second time going to our local "expo", and this year Noah specifically requested that we invite his best bud to come with us.  It was so much fun to watch Noah run around with his friends and have someone to go on the rides with.  We lucked out with a warm and sunny evening with low humidity (which is key to beautiful weather in New Jersey!).  We made the most of our two hours there by going on all the kiddie rides, winning a few prizes, and eating our weight in pretzels, zeppoles, and italian ice!

One of the most amusing parts of the evening was watching the dads "compete" at the different carnival games.  It started when Chris won Noah a stuffed zebra at the water gun game.   He then won a stuffed cookie monster for JP, the very next round!  While Chris will tell you that it's really rare for him to win, so far this summer, Chris has won 3 times!  On our way out, JP's dad decided to try his luck at the dunk a cop tank.  He was successful at dunking the cop, which led to Chris having to give it a try as well.  We finished the night with the men seeing who could throw a faster pitch.  While neither of them will be trying out for the majors, they did win the boys some inflatable swords ;)

You know it was a good evening when you need to brush your teeth a few times just to get the red italian ice stain off your teeth and lips!  And to top it all off, when we were discussing our favorite thing from the day, Noah couldn't narrow it down to just one thing.  Instead, he had a top 5 list, including riding on the train ride and watching the man get dunked.  And honestly, I couldn't agree more :)

  1. How fun are carnivals? We used to go to one when I was little with my grandparents but they stopped setting up when I was about 12 so it's been such a long time since I've experience the carney life :)

  2. Looks like a blast! I love a good carnival or fair. Now my hubby on the other hands hates them, so I usually have to go without him unless I really sweet talk him. Ha ha!

  3. #1 I am loving that plaid shirt you have on. LOVING! #2 I have never taken my kids to the carnival... maybe I should fix that sometime soon. We don't really have any that come to town though so that may be tricky.

  6. Love your outfit; it's so perfect for the occasion! Most of the fairs/expos around here are not for a couple months. I love having them a bit later when the weather starts to cool down. It seems to signify the end of summer for me!

  7. haha dunking the men. Love it. We've never been to a fair. I always miss the things when they come around. I use to enjoy the heck out of it as a kid. I'm sure Aria would get a kick out of it, esp all the tasty snacks and kid rides.

  8. Carnivals are so fun! I love all the things you mentioned plus the atmosphere of a carnival. I had to google zeppole! I have never heard of that before. Okay, I feel like I tell you this all the time, but I love how interactive Chris is with Noah. Not only that, but looking at all of your pictures he is always down on Noah’s level. That makes such a difference! Noah is such a lucky guy to have you two. Going to bed with a top 5 list? I call that a successful and fun night!

PS - carnival photos are always some of my favorites! I love the idea of a photoshoot at a carnival.
