Let's talk cardigans. I find it funny that I don't wear them that often anymore considering that they were such a staple in my wardrobe a few (or maybe 10) years ago. I honestly can't believe that it was 10 years ago, but back when I was in college, I had a summer job where I wore a cardigan every day! It was kind of a strange job... an online university that was located in California but the billing was done out of one of the owner's house in New Jersey. I got the job through a temp agency and I helped do the accounts receivable, which was a lot of work since it seemed like no one paid their tuition on time! Anyway, because it was a very casual work environment, I was able to wear bermuda shorts, a tank top, and a cardigan... my self imposed uniform. Not only did the cardigan complete an otherwise super casual outfit, but it also kept me warm in the air conditioning! Since then, I haven't really utilized a cardigan as much as I could or should. So I used this month's Mom Style Remix as an excuse to put some outfits together with some of my favorite cardigans. I definitely feel like I upped my cardigan game in the past 10 years!
First up, I wanted to come up with an outfit using my new white jeans The temps over here are still all over the place. As a result, in order to feel confident wearing my white jeans right now, I added some darker colors and a long sleeve cardigan. I feel that the cardigan just completes the outfit and there would be something missing without it! I also like that this outfit kind of has a nautical feel.
Next up, is my new favorite take on a cardigan... the kimono! I personally love the floral kimonos the best, but really there are so many amazing options out there right now. What I love is that it's the perfect cardigan for the Spring and Summer. It adds so much interest to an outfit without adding extra warmth, so it's ideal for the warmer months. I recently wore this outfit to a birthday party and got so many compliments.
So tell me, are you a fan of cardigans? How do you like to wear them?
