Look who's ready for baseball season to begin!!!
shirt | hat - in store at Babies R Us last year, can't find online
Murphy's Law... the idea that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Now I may be exaggerating just a tiny bit a lot, but the process of getting these photos was anything but easy. I had originally planned to dress Noah in his Mets gear, take his t-ball set to a local baseball field, and photograph him hitting the ball and playing catch with Chris. Very similar to these football posts I've done in the past (2015, 2014), just with baseball. The weekend came and it rained all Saturday morning. I got nervous that the grass and fields would be too wet. We contemplated pushing it back to Sunday, but when we saw how windy and cold (32 degrees but feeling like 20!) it was supposed to be, we figured we had to make Saturday afternoon work. Thankfully, the rain cleared and the ground wasn't too wet. But then Noah didn't want to go to the baseball field, he barely even wanted to go outside. And rather than playing baseball, he wanted to play with his stomp rocket and soccer ball! We decided to pull out our top notch parenting skills and bribe Noah with a new toy. He negotiated how many photos he had to pose for to get said toy, and we quickly got to work. Despite the obstacles, I'm actually really pleased with the photos I got.
Chris had envisioned showing Noah how to hold the bat and helping him hit the ball. But Noah, being a typical 3 year old, wanted nothing to do with that. He wanted to do it "all by himself" and started crying if Chris got anywhere near showing him where to place his hands. The bat then turned into a golf club before quickly moving on to playing soccer. It was hilarious to watch Noah play goalie... Chris kicked the ball, and instead of blocking it, Noah helped kick it into the net further. Good thing we've signed him up for soccer this Spring so he can learn the basics ;) The posed shots are after I bribed him with a new toy. After that, he took direction remarkably well!
And can we just talk about Old Navy and sizing. First off, I love that Old Navy sells the sports team shirts. That's where we've bought Noah's Giants, Rangers, and Mets shirts in the past. I was anxiously waiting to see what MLB shirts they were selling this year. Noah technically fits in a 4T, but I've recently been buying 5T in short sleeves so they last the summer. Regardless, we still shop in the toddler section. When I saw that this was the style for toddlers, I was a little bummed, simply because I didn't really think it looked like the team's logo. I then saw that the designs for the boy's sizes were much more authentic. I decided to order the XS and hope it would fit. While it's a little big, it works, and he'll get to wear it again next year! I'm also a fan of the orange, since it's different than the usual Mets blue.
I think it will be a while yet before we take Noah to a professional baseball game. Not only are the stadiums pretty far away, but the tickets around here are really expensive. I can't help but worry that we are going to spend a fortune on tickets, make the long commute into New York, only to have Noah lose interest within a few innings. To be honest, I'm not even sure if Noah will enjoy watching the games on the TV. For now we will stick to the local minor league games until Noah has a genuine interest. As for Chris, he is going to a Yankees game with his family later this month for his brother's birthday. While Chris is a Mets fan, his mom and brother root for the Yankees, while his dad is a Cardinals fan... a family divided. Meanwhile, my family has no real baseball team allegiance ;) I guess only time will tell what Noah will grow up to be!

ReplyDeletehaha his goalie pose is too funny! Kids never do want to cooperate with pictures, do they?
ReplyDeleteI think the photos all turned out great!! And we are in the in-between sizes, so everything always fits a little funny. But, I like when the shirts are a little big - more time to wear them!!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable is this :) I just love it
ReplyDeleteCute photos despite Murphy's Law! And I just have to say it....GO ROYALS!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the professional game thing...Cam does OK at our local MiLB games, but I just don't see us trucking it down to Boston, paying for tickets and leaving an hour later! Still, you have the cutest Mets fan and since I love anyone but the Yankees, I can totally approve of this!! :)
ReplyDeleteAw these are just perfect. He is such an adorable fan. I was bummed about the Old Navy baby tees this year too. I wish I had purchased one last year! We need a Rangers' shirt asap because my husband is not alright with just the old Indians' one we have, haha.
ReplyDeleteSweet pictures! My dad is a Mets fan but we cheer for the Royals here! My pictures will be up on Wednesday and I'll link up then!
ReplyDeleteNoah is too cute in his Mets gear!
ReplyDeleteCutest Mets fan ever! And I totally agree about finding shirts, it took me forever to find the right size Cardinals shirt for Jude!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is too cute! Thanks for the reminder that Old Navy sells sports apparel, I had forgotten. I realized this morning my kiddos had no Texas Ranger gear to sport! We may take a quick trip to Old Navy tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures still came out perfect! Love his vintage shirt.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the way it always works?!?! I still think they turned out so cute!!
ReplyDeleteNoah's pictures turned out great! He looks so happy! Kinsey was 4 months old at her first ball game but Brielana hasnt gone to any yet, oops ;)
ReplyDeleteCutest little Mets fan ever!
ReplyDeleteSo, like you said, Old Navy sells sports apparel BUT Angels stuff!! So frustrating! Sometimes at the store but never online!
Lol oh my goodness, YES! That stuff happens to me all the time and I am not at all above a bribe either. The photos are still so cute, as always.
ReplyDeleteConfession – I completely almost failed at this linkup! It’s been so crazy around here lately and finding time to photograph Mason in his Ranger’s gear was almost impossible. What you don’t see in my pictures is that I threw that t-shirt on Mason and he had pajama pants on the bottom. I just make sure not to get those in the pictures! Haha. Also, we sometimes have to bribe Mason to take pictures. No shame at all. Your pictures came out great. And I think my favorite is when he is holding his hat with both hands. He’s so precious!!
ReplyDeleteI had every plan in the world to play along with this linkup but thanks to crappastic weather photos were impossible so I missed out.
