Our Weekend & Some Golden Globes Fashion

After having many super busy weekends, it was nice to have a pretty low key weekend over here.  While I love staying busy and doing lots of fun things, there's something about January that I just like to take it easy.  Maybe it's the colder weather or just the desire for simplicity after the craziness of Christmas, but I just like to stay at home more.  So this weekend, we purposefully didn't make too many plans.  Noah and I had a play date on Friday with some good friends, and I was able to clear out our storage room by giving them a ton of Noah's old baby clothes.  It was also really cute to see these boys play well together.  They are almost exactly 2 years apart (so they really could be brothers) and Noah kept going up to Sawyer asking him if he wanted to play with him, see his bedroom, or watch Paw Patrol.  Sawyer was just as happy to walk/crawl in circles around the house, going up and down the one-step we have into our living room and kitchen.

That evening, Chris' train was delayed because of mechanical failure, so I decided to start my weekend before he got home ;)

On Saturday, while we stayed in our PJs for most of the day and didn't have to go out, we were pretty productive.  We worked on the disaster that should be Chris' office but is instead a catchall for all the "stuff" we don't know what to do with.  Frames that need to be hung up, extra water that can't stay in the garage anymore because of freezing, and all the other stuff we all have but don't really "need".

A few hours, and many garbage bags later, we had a lot of trash and many bags to donate.  While there's still a lot left to do, I'm so glad we at least made a dent.  And while it looks horrible, we are currently storing all our donation bags in our dining room.  I can't wait until they pick it all up at the end of the month!

We finally got dressed, headed to the grocery store to pick up a few necessities (like Dove chocolate),  and baked some muffins.

Saturday evening, we finally took down our Christmas tree.  I had taken down all the ornaments (and other decorations) earlier in the week, but the tree and lights were still up.  This is where we used to have Noah's reading nook, but then moved the bookcase and side tables so that we could put the tree in that corner.  But Noah apparently prefers the bookcase in the other room, because he got pretty upset when I said we were gonna move it back.  So instead, this has now become his V-tech corner and I'm tempted to add a gallery wall to make the corner look less bare.

On Sunday, we had some friends over for a breakfast play date.  Our friends brought over their brand new waffle maker, we had an egg casserole, fruit, and muffins, and I made us all fruit smoothies.  And I'm a bad blogger and didn't take a single photo of any of it!  Trust me though when I say it was all delicious, even if the kids didn't eat a single thing!   They really only cared about playing with each other, first upstairs and then in our basement playroom.  Despite some sharing disputes, it really went well and we all had a great time!

The rest of the day was spent around the house.  I finally signed up for DropBox, we booked a hotel room for a friend's wedding, and Chris watched some football playoff games.  We finished the evening with the Golden Globes.  And like always, I just watched the fashion pre-show and the opening monologue and then waited til the next day to find out who won.  While I don't watch a lot of the nominated shows or seen the movies, I love watching for the fashion.  Here were some of my favorite and least favorite looks from last night.

^^^ I really loved all the white gowns this year!  I also noticed a huge trend of either no necklace or just a choker this year.

^^^ the sequined dresses were gorgeous.  But what was going on with Channing's hair!?

^^^ I also liked the very sleek dresses.  But the sneakers with a tux?!

And finally, some of my not so favorite gowns.  I have to say that Eva's dress looked better on TV, but the photo is just "eh".   But the rest I just didn't like at all.

How was your weekend?  Did you watch the Golden Globes?  Who were your best and worst dressed?

  1. Loved the white gowns!!!! I always just watch the pre-show too! :)

  2. What a great weekend!! Great job purging. That's amazing!!! I bet you feel so great after doing that. Ha ha!

  3. Your weekend seemed to be a good mix of being productive, relaxing and fun! I need to do some major purging around here soon. Noah is so precious with his little friend!!

  4. Your weekend sounds like perfection. Jammies, getting stuff done, watching the Globes, chocolate. Can't really ask for more!
And, how sweet to see the two boys play like siblings.

  5. This is exactly what I was hoping to do this weekend, but we didn't get much done. Our office is a catchall too and I'm in desperate need of some MAJOR purging!

  6. Your weekend sounds perfect! You did all the things I wanted to do lol. We had a birthday party smack in the middle of the day on Saturday so we didn't get a lot done before or after. And then Seth was out of town on Sunday and Mason always wanted to play so I didn't get a lot done then either. But the spring cleaning and organizing needs to happen! After my event this weekend for work, I'm going to plan to take a day off and just do stuff around the house that needs to get done. It's a lot easier when nobody is here to bother me :) although I usually get sucked into blogging... oops!

  7. That rice looks so delicious! Have you posted a recipe for it? My favourite dress was Gina Rodriguez's Zac Posen dress. She looked stunning!
