Fall Home Tour 2015

Happy First Day of Fall!  It's been a slow start, but we are finally starting to get some fall weather over here as well.  I'm so glad, because it makes all my fall decor feel a little less silly.  Something about having the air on when your house is filled with pumpkins that just doesn't seem right ;)  Anyway, last week I officially started decorating (the downstairs) for fall.  I switched out some of our pillows (though I'd always love to add more) and added lots of orange and yellow all over.  Noah was just as excited to help decorate and kept saying we were "making it Halloween"!  I'll try to keep the "talking" to a minimum and let the pictures speak for themselves.  I've tried to link up as much as I could, but feel free to ask me in the comments if there's anything I missed.

First up, the living room.  Other than decorating the mantel, I just put a few (real) pumpkins in a dish on our sofa table.  I would love to decorate the sofa table more, but in reality, we use it as a landing pad when we come inside the house.  This wooden bowl has already been pushed aside countless times #reallife.

Next up, the dining room.  We used to have some floral prints hanging above the buffet, but I found that the blue prints made it hard to decorate for the holidays.  I decided to swap them out for this wooden window pane mirror I just found at West Elm.  It was on final sale and I'm absolutely in love!  Thanks dad for spending almost 2 hours hanging it!  I decorated the buffet with a mix of pumpkins I already owned while added a few new pieces.  I had to fold the runner a little bit since it's too long for the buffet.  I bought it for our dining room table when it's fully extended, but until I find another I love just as much for the buffet, it does the trick :)

I kept the table simple with a bowl full of fake gourds, some succulents, and our normal everyday chargers/place mats.

While those are the two rooms I focused on, I did sprinkle some fall decor a few other places as well. I hung a wreath on the door that leads to the garage and added a few pumpkins to our downstair powder room.

Also, any tips on how to photograph a toilet in a pretty way???

While I added a wreath to our front door as well, I'm holding off decorating (and sharing) our porch until I can get some real pumpkins.  I laughed so hard when I saw a picture of how we envision decorating our porch for fall compared to what it actually ends up looking like.  I am so annoyed I can't find the picture, but the reality is just two puny pumpkins randomly placed on the steps and calling it a day!  I hope I can do a little better than that this year, but I'm not guaranteeing anything ;)

How do you decorate for fall?  Do you go all out with the fall colors or just stick to neutrals?

  1. Aw I love your decor!! The mantel looks so pretty with those pumpkins and the faux leaves! I love adding the orange color to my decor but this year I went with a lot of neutral too.

  2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your fall decor!!! I think I might have almost convinced Seth that we needed to buy some when he said "and where do you plan to store all of this after the holiday is over?" Umm...well I guess he has a point. The fact that we don't have a mantle and don't have good storage is the only thing keeping me from going crazy and decorating. He better watch out when he hopefully one day have a house to decorate!

  4. So festive, I love that mirror in your dining, good find!! I don't do much, but a few fall touches on our main level. I usually get the 'decorating' done when the kids are sleeping so it's fun to watch Tys notice all the new stuff once he's up. :)

  5. Loving all your Fall decor. Looks festive & very Southern Living Magazine! :) I tend to use all the Fall colors when decorating. While I would love to stick with neutrals, I feel it will be more festive and fun for Lily to have the warm colored leaves, pumpkins, and decor!

  6. Love all your decor, but especially the mantle! We have a massive TV above ours, and there is no other place to put it, so I never get to do anything fun with that space.
