As you probably know, I love doing simple crafts with Noah. This summer I've been trying to do one a week. I find most of my ideas on Pinterest and then often make them even simpler. With 4th of July this weekend, I made sure to do some patriotic crafts with Noah. Bring on the red, white, and blue!
We love making "stained glass windows" using contact paper and tissue paper square. I found a star template online and cut out a star from card stock. I have so many different colors of tissue paper squares from past crafts, that I just had to pull out a handful of red, white, and blue. The whole thing is so easy... I just lay the star onto the sticky contact paper and then let Noah stick the tissue paper all over it. This time he was a little heavy handed and had multiple layers of tissue paper. When he was all finished, I just put another piece of contact paper on top to seal it all together. I then just taped it to our glass sliding door to enjoy :)
We also made a simple patriotic wreath using a paper plate and some sparkly star stickers I found at Michaels. I was hoping to find more patriotic craft supplies and was disappointed with the lack of selection!
^^^ I was surprised at how particular Noah was with his artistic vision. Look at that face he gave Grandma when she suggested he put a few blue stars in between the red ones!
And while it's not really a "craft", we did break out the red, white, and blue play-doh and used a star cookie cutter during our play-doh session :)
Are you doing any patriotic crafts with your kids this year?
As usual, I'm linking up with Jess for "It's the Little Things" link up!
These turned out so good! I love that you're teaching him a little bit about the fourth of july already. Love the paper plate one!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are the crafting genius! Such a bummer you post so late though so I can't steal :) LOL. I need to remember to re-look at your old posts a couple weeks before the holidays so I can get some ideas. You seriously find the BEST things on Pinterest!!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute! Lately I have been finding that Michael's clears their holiday stuff out waaaay too early. I remember going to get St Patricks Day stuff theto week before the girl told me all they had left was a little section in clearance because they started putting all the spring stuff out two weeks prior! So annoying
