Weekend Fun - The Pool and Expo

I have to say that this past weekend was one of my favorites.  We purposefully avoided making plans, which let us spend our days at the pool and do fun family stuff at night.  We finally got some sunny and hot weather this weekend... perfect for the pool.  I was a little nervous going to the pool this early in the season considering it isn't heated, but it was okay (the thermometer read 78 degrees).  Noah kept hopping back and forth between the big pool and the baby pool.  He showed Chris how he can swim with his bubble belt on, they played with the noodles, and I even got to sit and relax on a lounge chair!

After spending the morning at the pool, Noah had a scraped knee to show for it (running at the pool is not a good idea) and Chris and I had nasty sunburns.  Lesson learned that I should apply sunscreen on myself when I do it for Noah!  Noah also ended up taking a 3 hour nap... so that was amazing!

When Noah woke up from his marathon nap, we headed over to the town carnival (called the Expo).  Chris and I both remember going to the Expo when we were tweens and were very excited to take Noah.    We played games (and even won Noah a "yellow fish"), went on rides, and ate way too much food (pizza, pretzels, funnel cake, lemonade, and italian ice).  I knew Noah would enjoy going on a few rides with us, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that he wanted to go on a few all by himself!  We ended up staying for 2 hours, much longer than we originally anticipated. We really saw him as a "big boy" this weekend!

^^^ check out that sun burn!

On Sunday, we hung out during the day.  We went for a walk first thing in the morning... Noah was still in his PJs!  We went back to the pool, but this time we ALL put sunscreen on!  I got to relax a bit while Chris and Noah came up with some fun games in the baby pool.  I did however go in the big pool with them and we played "hide and seek".  Not really many places to hide in a pool though, so it was really just Chris swimming to the other end while we counted, and then Noah pretending to be a shark while I held him and he kicked over to get Chris ;)

We finished the weekend by going to a new Chipotle in town with Chris' parents.  We then went for frozen yogurt and played hide and seek in the nearby gazebo.  I love summer evenings when you can stay outside playing after dinner :)

How was your weekend?

  3. What a great weekend! And that's a fantastic pool! Not crowded at all! We went to the pool on Saturday and there wasn't a free chair in the whole place. The kids had a blast though and 3 hour naps make it worth it! :) Awesome carnival photos! I am dying to get to a carnival this year!
