Five on Friday

Happy Friday!  We have a few things planned for the weekend, but really I'm just hoping for some good weather so we can go to the pool!  For this week's Five on Friday, I thought I'd share a few things I'm loving at the moment.

Kids and their phases.  We are creatures of nature over here and love routine.  Despite our routine, I find that Noah goes through certain phases.  They can last for a week up to a few months even.  For example, a few months ago, he was against wearing real PJs.  We had so many cute pairs with diggers, airplanes, and trucks on them, but he just wanted to wear sweatpants and a tshirt to bed.  I didn't make a big deal and just went with it.  Then one day I offered a real pair of PJs and he was excited to wear his airplane (and other) PJs again.  Since summer is here (and he likes PJs again), my mom picked him up a few short sets.  In addition to the dinosaur set he's wearing below, she got him these fire truck and surf car sets.

Another phase Noah is going through, is not wanting to sleep in his crib at all and instead wanting to co-sleep with me for both naps and nighttime.  While I'm having to do more chores while he's awake, I have been enjoying nap time by reading books on my kindle app while I lay next to him.  Most of my shows are on summer hiatus anyway, so I've enjoyed catching up on reading.  So far this month I've read 7 books... I really can't believe it!  Chances are this phase will pass right around the time Noah decides he no longer wants to nap :(

Last week, my blow dryer died.  It still technically worked, but it only blew out cold air.  I've had it for at least 5 years, so I'm not surprised it broke, but it was a bummer to go without one for a few days.  I immediately order this one and thank goodness for Amazon Prime!  Once I used this new one, I realized that my old one was probably not working well for a long time.  I am able to blow dry my hair much faster now and it looks so much better!  I'm kind of glad my old one died!

I love trying new recipes that are actually yummy.  Too often I've tried recipes I found on Pinterest that just aren't very good.  This week, we tried this new recipe and everyone really loved it!

I love to watch Noah play.  He's getting such an imagination, playing with his cars and trucks, toy food, and making trains and buildings with his Legos.  Earlier this week, he looked so cute playing with his Legos on the carpet, that I went to get my good camera.  I guess Noah got annoyed at all my picture taking, cause then he gave me this face and asked me to play with him instead.  How can you say no that that.  So then we made a whole village and a train for the animals.  I'm still glad I got one of him playing with our finished train :)

Finally, I'm loving this new cream eye shadow I got.  Some friends of mine got together to test out some skincare products and I ended up buying these two cream eye colors.  I love that they are neutral and easy to apply for every day wear.

I'm linking up with The Farmer's Wife and September Farm for "Oh Hey Friday"!

I'm also linking up with April's blog for their Five on Friday!

  1. That Mary Kay cream eye shadow is the best!

  2. I can't believe you read 7 books in one month!! #goals

  3. Liam has always wanted/needed to nap with me. Otherwise he would only sleep for 20 minutes. I learned to enjoy the downtime too. Sometimes I'd sleep, sometimes read. Or catch up on news & blogs. Now that Finn is here though, he does sleep by himself (I still have to lay with him until he falls asleep).

  4. Aww! I love that he just wants to nap/sleep with you. Scarlett asks to lay in my bed as a ploy to get out of her nap ;) the odd time though she falls asleep in my arms and it is just the best ever :) Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

  5. i hear you on wardrobe issues. lex refuses to wear pants. like i have to BRIBE her into them with the promise we can change later! and the co sleeping is probably SO SWEET. i mean how can you pass that up?! especially if it means you're still getting naps ;)

  6. Loving his pjs!! I swear Mason can only wear his once and then he needs a change and I don't have time to do laundry everyday so I may need to invest in some of those! They are so cute!
Also, I think my blow dryer is on the verge of being done too so I may have to check that one out. Love me some Amazon Prime!
