Outside! | It's The Little Things

On Monday, I shared some of Noah's favorite things at the moment.  He loves a variety of things and activities, but the thing I'm most excited about is spending more time outside!  We moved into our house last Summer and basically lived out on our deck.  I loved our little routine of eating meals out there, Noah playing in the water table, and watching Chris mow the lawn.

Last summer, Noah loved following my dad around while he worked on the lawn.  He would water the flowers with the hose and even helped Daddy and Papa plant some flowers.  This year, we planted some new Spring flowers and have been watering the existing flowers.  Whenever we start to get a little bored inside, I suggest we go outside and water the flowers.  Noah is always interested!

While the weather isn't consistently hot yet, we have set up a few fun outside activities.  We have filled the water/sand table up with sand right now.  We figure that we will switch it to water mid-June when it gets hotter.  In the meantime, Noah loves playing with the sand.  Since he's a huge fan of diggers, we've brought some of his little construction vehicles out for him to play with in addition to the shovel and pail.  I just wish there wasn't so much pollen making my deck, table, and chairs so dirty!  Sometimes I want to take Noah out but then give up when I see how much work is involved to make it usable!

When the sun goes down, we like to spend as much time as possible outside.  That includes helping Daddy mow the lawn and playing with the hose!  While Noah loves being outside, I love finding all the new flowers blooming all around our house.  It's a surprise each and every day to see what's there!

^^^ I'm excited for the lavender bush to fully bloom!

^^^ it's amazing how quickly the flowers bloom!  This is the same rhododendron... as of Friday (on the left) and as of Sunday (on the right)!

  1. Connor would be outside 24/7 if we let him. Since he no longer takes a nap (send coffee) we usually spend what would be nap time outside. It helps with his moodiness since I think he could use a nap but refuses.

What are some of Noah's favorite outdoor activities? I'm always on the lookout for fun new ways to have fun outdoors.

  2. I am crushing HARD on your garden! Peonies! Rhododendron! Lavender! And whatever those bushes are -- gorgeous! And I looooove boxwood. And your grass is perfection. I think you need to share your secrets!

  3. Love that daddy/son mowing pic… so, so cute!!

  4. SUCH a big helper!!! I love his little watering can (I think I commented on that once before?) and I love that he loves to mow the lawn with Chris. This is my dream... having a big backyard!
