It's The Little Things - My 31st Birthday!

As I get older, celebrating birthdays is more about the little things rather than the large gestures.  We don't make a huge deal about gifts anymore, but we do like to get together with family and it's the perfect excuse to eat a lot and enjoy a lot of cake (and candles)!  Since my birthday fell on a Tuesday, we celebrated this past weekend.  On Saturday night, my mom watched Noah so Chris and I could go out for an early dinner, just the two of us.  We used to go out to eat a lot before Noah was born.  As any parent will tell you, eating out with a toddler in tow is just not the same.  It was really nice to have an adult dinner!

While we were gone, my mom made me a birthday cake with Noah's help.  He's been really into baking recently so she thought he would enjoy it (and he did).  He put all the candles in the cake and even decorated it with Skittles!  While Noah and I LOVE Skittles, they don't really go well with icing :)  When we got home, Noah immediately wanted to sing Happy Birthday and blow out the candles with me.  We skipped eating the cake since we just had a huge dinner and dessert!

^^^ I would love some tips on removing the green spots on my face fro the candles

On Sunday afternoon, we braved the snow and went over to my parents' house for another birthday dinner.  My mom made my favorite, pot roast, and they sang happy birthday to me over an ice cream cake.  Noah LOVES cake, candles, and singing!   I of course had to have him help me blow the candles out!

^^^ When I asked him who's birthday it was!

Chris had to go to work on my actual birthday, so Noah and I had a pretty normal day.  Chris did however surprise me with a few things, like flowers, a balloon, and Noah's stuffed friends having a party for me!  When Chris got home from work, we had some yummy fruit tarts and I opened my gifts.  Chris (and Noah) got me the table cloth I asked for as well as a gift card to Home Goods and a massage :)

^^^ Noah was excited to open my gift until he found out it was just a table cloth ;)

  2. Sounds like you had the best birthday! I personally love how many cakes you got. That's my favorite part of celebrating :) But I also love how into celebrating with you Noah was. He wanted to help bake a cake, blow out the candles, and his friends even wanted to celebrate too!
