Five on Friday

This week we were back to reality, where Chris went to work every day and we got back to our routine.  Thankfully, we have a pretty low key weekend planned.  I also want to wish my little brother, Luke, a very happy birthday!  He will be turning 27 tomorrow.

Noah loves to do crafts.  He loves playing with play-doh, coloring, painting, and especially loves stickers!  I thought it would be fun to do an organized craft with him once a week.  I did some searching on Pinterest and found some age appropriate crafts that are season/holiday related.  And if we get too busy, I know he will be just as happy with some crayons and paper ;)  This week we made "Stained Glass Mittens".  I love the idea of making "stained glass" anything just by using construction paper (as the outline), contact paper, and cut up tissue paper.  I have tons of ziploc baggies filled with different colors of cut up tissue paper.  It makes these crafts really easy to do without much preparation.  When Noah got up from his nap on Tuesday, he was bummed that Chris was at work (this is what happens when your daddy was home for 17 days straight!).  I asked him if he wanted to make a smoothie (another favorite) and he said no.  When I asked if he wanted to do a craft, he smiled and said "yeahhh!".  I love that he's so enthusiastic about it.  Not to say that he stayed interested in it the whole time... I did have to end up helping him finish these.

Last weekend, Chris went to a basketball game with his dad.  They went to see Penn State play Rutgers down in New Brunswick.  He took the good camera with our zoom lens and got some great pictures during the game.  Please excuse the grainy iPhone selfie ;)

While Chris was out for the evening, Noah and I went over to my parents' house for dinner.   Noah was put to work... sweeping the floor and making juice with Grandpa ;)  When Luke & Tyler (who was visiting for the weekend) got home from the movies, he immediately showed them where to sit and requested demanded they play play-doh with him!

I love going to get my hair done.  Sometimes I think I should be more daring with my hair, but then I realized I'm a stay-at-home-mom and I often just let it air dry!  I love that my hair dresser is practical and advises me on what I should and shouldn't do.  I also love that I have my mom to come watch him so I can escape for a couple of hours!

Now that the holidays are over, I am trying to get back on track with meal planning and making dinners more often.  Chris and I both want to eat healthier as well as not spend as much on groceries or take out.  We did pretty good this week and I even tried a new recipe.

I'm linking up with The Farmer's Wife and September Farm for "Oh Hey Friday"

I'm also linking up with DarciAprilChristina and Natasha's blogs for their Five on Friday!

  1. Love the stained glass mittens! So fun. Also, loving the new hair cut!

  2. that picture from the game is great! I never bring my nice camera and they always end up grainy. I've been trying to get back into meal planning too. The holidays always through me off and my body has just been feeling icky because of it
