Weekend Photos

I honestly can't believe Christmas Eve is tomorrow!  This year I was prepared for Christmas, planning out all of our activities and coming up with ideas for gifts in early November.  We've stuck to our plans and checked off almost every item on our December bucket list.  We've had so much fun getting ready for Christmas this year, and yet still it has kind of snuck up on me!  I want more time.  I sometimes think I prefer all the holiday preparations instead of the actual day.  The actual day goes by so quickly that it's sometimes a blur to me.  I enjoy the decorating, the visits to Santa, the Christmas themed activities and parties, the baking, and the Advent Countdowns.  Noah is at such a fun age this Christmas and I wish this holiday season could have been longer.

This past weekend involved some more Christmas activities in addition to some of the more tedious preparations (like wrapping).  Chris took off work starting on Friday, so we had a long weekend.. if you can even call it that since he doesn't go back until the New Year!  On Thursday night, he had his work holiday party.  Unfortunately spouses are not invited, which is kind of a bummer since Tommy Hilfiger is actually at these parties!  This year they did something a little different and held it at one of those upscale bowling alley clubs.  Chris hasn't been feeling great, so he didn't stay super late, but he did have fun bowling all night and had some great food (or so he told me).

On Friday morning, when Noah woke up, he immediately asked for Dada.  As soon as Chris came in to get him, he happily told me bye bye about half a dozen times as they went downstairs to have breakfast and play.  I went back to sleep and when I woke up I found them like this.  Can they be any cuter??

I then took Noah to the mall to do a return and drop off a gift for a little boy through the Salvation Army.  Meanwhile, Chris went to get his license renewed and was annoyed to find out that he couldn't just carry over his prior picture.  I know that feeling since I had to give up my amazing photo that was taken just after my wedding for a photo taken weeks after having Noah.  Let's just say I don't look my best!

Then the fun began.  While Noah napped, Chris and I went through all of the gifts we've been buying the last few months and got organized.  In addition to Christmas, we also have Chris' dad's birthday on Saturday.  We got him a gift months ago, but for the life of us we couldn't find where it was!  No joke, we looked high and low and after many hours I finally found it!  We were really getting worried.  The good news is that in the midst of searching every closet, I found the push pins for Noah's map that I had misplaced in the move :)

On Saturday morning, we had our last swim class of the session.  I had done the last few classes with Noah because he was starting to lose interest when he'd be going in with Chris.  Halfway through the class he'd want to get out and come to me.  We weren't sure if it was because of the cold water or if he just wanted me.  Thankfully, Noah was totally into it this last class with Chris!  He immediately wanted to go in the water and happily said "bye bye" to me many times (this seems to be a trend).  He was kicking lots, did great floating on his back, loved going down the slide, and even dunked under water with Daddy!  Because of the cold winter weather, we will take the next few months off and start up again in March or April.

In the afternoon, we went to my parents' house for dinner.  Luke was also home and we spent the evening decorating cookies, eating dinner, and singing Christmas songs while my dad played guitar.  It was a really fun evening and a great way to get into the Christmas mood!

^^^ Noah got to play with a new toy... Santa's house!

^^^ but he still had fun playing with his old toys as well!

^^^ we are both very serious about our decorating!

^^^ enjoying the fruits of our labor

^^^ Noah had so much fun ringing the bells to the music!

^^^ Everyone sang along... even Cookie Monster ;)

^^^ Noah even got to strum a few lines

We had a laid back Sunday and didn't do much until the evening.  That night, we went to the zoo to look at the lights.  It was a MOMS Club event, but we had a hard time meeting up with others, so we just did our own thing.  We went on the train (but there weren't any light displays in that part), went on the carousel, and just walked around looking at the lights.  It was pretty cold, so we only lasted about an hour.  We then grabbed a quick dinner at McDonalds and Noah was pretty bummed when we found out their ice cream machine wasn't working after we promised him a cone.  Chris was super daddy though and found some ice cream bars at the convenience store next door.  It became messier than we had intended, but Noah loved it!  We then drove to our old town to look at some more Christmas light displays.  Last year we found two houses that do a pretty amazing job and knew we wanted to go back again this year.   Check out this light display that is timed to a radio station that you play in your car!

Phew... I'm tired just thinking about our fun weekend!
