Fall Mantel | Happy 1st Day of Fall!

Happy First Day of Fall!  I know I feel like fall starts right after Labor Day, but here in New Jersey it took a little while for the weather to get on board with that.  It's finally getting to the point where we can wear pants on a regular basis and need to bring a sweater or light jacket when we go out.  While I love Summer, I'm really enjoying the cooler temps.  I also love that I can go for our daily walk anytime during the day, rather than first thing in the morning to avoid the heat!   One of my favorite things to do when the season changes, is to update my mantel.

As I've mentioned before, I was really looking forward to having a mantel and fireplace when we bought this house.  Before Noah, I was happy to decorate on any accent table I could find.  But anyone with a toddler knows that anything at their level will be played with and possibly broken.  I was super excited to have a mantel where I could put pretty (and breakable) things that would stay out of reach!  This is what I came up with for Fall (here's what it was for the Summer).

I already had the candle holders (from Target), but swapped out the white candles for some orange ones.  They also have a fall scent to them... bonus!  I picked up this white and gold pumpkins at Target as well.  I swapped out the teal vase for this brown one (from Crate and Barrel) and updated the fake branches for some yellow ones.  It's amazing how these simple changes can make the room feel ready for Fall!  When it gets closer to Halloween, I plan to add some more festive accents.  Right now I like the simple Fall feel and think it can stay like this through Thanksgiving.

Do you decorate based on the season?

  3. I LOVE your mantel! And I LOVE that you have a mantel to decorate! I so wish we did. I have this whole thing that I put out for Christmas and now I am re-thinking that with Mason. I would love to have a little area away from toddler fingers to decorate. Love those pumpkins though and might have to go to Target and get myself some (especially since Seth says "its too early for real pumpkins!" Party pooper.)
