Breakfast & Football

On Saturday, we had some friends over to watch the Ireland Penn State game.  The game started at 8:30, so they arrived at our house at 8 am.  We ate way too much food, but it was all so yummy and I loved the variety.  I made a breakfast casserole (recipe below), some muffins, and banana bread.  They brought some bagels, fruit, and some cookies.  We also had everything needed for mimosas ;)    We filled our plates and then spent the morning watching football.

^^^ I'm a horrible blogger and forgot to take pictures before we started eating!

Noah wasn't very interested in the football and wanted to go outside and play.  We were able to distract him with some toys, but at halftime, we went outside and played some ladder golf and corn hole.  We came back inside to finish the game and we got pretty excited when Penn State won in the final seconds 26-23!

^^^ excited about the win... Chris and Noah even did a victory lap around the neighborhood ;)

Breakfast Casserole

6 slices of white bread - of the Wonder variety
1 1/2 c cheddar cheese
1 lb Jimmy Dean Sausage
1/2 lb mushrooms sautéed (optional)
6 eggs beaten well
1 c milk or half & half
13x9x2 greased pan

Butter both sides of bread, stack and cut into 12 squares per slice.  Add the bread to pan.  Sprinkle the other dry ingredients on top.  Mix egg and milk.  Pour egg and milk mixture over pan evenly.  If bread is not covered completely, add more milk.  (I usually use 1 more egg and more milk as the bread is not completely covered.)  Refrigerate for 3-6 hours.  (I usually make this the night  before I plan to serve).  Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min.

  1. Your football breakfast brunch sounds so fun! I love the festive outfits and of course the mimosas :) You make me want to host a breakfast at our place! Though I doubt my friends would be as willing to wake up so early :)
