Five on Friday

TGIF!  I always look forward to linking up with DarciAprilChristina and Natasha's blogs for their super popular Five on Friday!  This week, I'm doing a moving themed list.  We will be closing on our new house in 10 days.  Before we move in, we are having the inside painted and the new furniture we bought delivered.  So it's still about month before we actually leave our apartment.  There are a lot of things I'm looking forward to about the new house, but here are the big things!

One - More Space

One of the biggest things I'm looking forward to with the new house is just having more space in general.  We are currently in a 2 bedroom apartment.  The house we bought is a 3 bedroom, 2 story house, with a finished basement and a backyard.  Not only will Noah have more space to play, but we will also have a ton of storage.  Currently we store A LOT of stuff at our parents' houses.  We've literally taken over my parents' basement over the last 4 years!  It's filled with all the stuff we registered for at our wedding, furniture that doesn't fit in our current apartment, baby stuff, lots of clothes (off season, stuff that doesn't fit anymore, Noah's baby clothes, etc), holiday decorations and a bunch of other random stuff.  It's pretty crazy how excited I am to have everything at our house and get it organized in the basement.  We have an unfinished portion in the basement, as well as 5 large closets/shelves in the finished part of it.  We also have a pantry and a large closet in our kitchen, which I'm super excited about.  Chris is also super excited to be able to buy certain things in bulk.  He's a coupon shopper and would love to stock up on bottles of water, paper towels, toilet paper, diapers, etc.

^^^ I'm excited for so many closets!

Two - Big Boy Room

Since we are moving into a 3 bedroom, we plan to immediately set up 2 rooms for Noah.  We will set up one room as the nursery and it will look exactly like the room he has here.  But we will also be setting up a big boy room for Noah.  My plan is see which room Noah is more comfortable with when we first move in and then eventually transition him into the big boy room.  We hope to have a second child sometime in the future, so I would rather have Noah already happy in his big boy room rather than feel like he's being kicked out for the new baby.  Another perk of setting up a big boy room, is that we will have another actual bed in our house.  We are going to put a full bed in the room, so when Noah wakes up in the middle of the night, I can just sleep with him in his bed rather than bring him in with us.  Then I can either sneak out or just sleep there and let Chris have a good night's sleep :)

Three - Nice Neighborhood and Backyard

Noah and I try to get outside most days and walk around town or go to the park.  But in the new house, we will be in a neighborhood that has a pool and playground right down the street.  I'm excited to to go on morning walks on a quiet street and not have to worry about cross walks.  Since we will also have a backyard and a deck, I anticipate spending most of our days outside.  I want to get Noah a water table for the deck and a small play set for our backyard.  I envision Chris playing with him on the slide and swings while I make dinner :) I think spending more time outside will tire Noah out and improve his sleeping.

Four - Quiet Weekend Mornings

Chris is amazing and wakes up with Noah on the weekends and lets me sleep in.  While it's great, since we are currently in close quarters, I can usually hear Noah playing and it's not always easy to sleep through.  Chris can now take Noah to play in the basement or in the backyard and I get to have some actual peace and quiet :)

Five - Close to Family

And finally, one of the best things about the new house is how much closer it will be to both of our parents!  When I'm driving home from my parents' house now, I pass by our new street and wish that we were living there now so I'd be home already.  We don't live that far away now, but we will now be less than 10 miles away from both sets of parents.  Maybe Noah won't fall asleep on the car ride home, or we can at least hope!

  1. Oh I am so excited for you guys, Meghan!! It's going to be so nice to have your own space and a huge yard for Noah to run around in!! :)

  2. New follower here! I'm loving this huge yard. I'm sure your little guy will love it! And how nice it is to be able to have the space to let him choose a room like that, so neat! Also, living close to parents is SO nice. I live directly across the street from my mom right now and it's amazing, ha! Have a great weekend :)

  3. oh this is amazing! That is a beauty of a house and that backyard, awesome! So exciting to have your own space and place and definitely more room.

  7. I am officially jealous of you. That house is going to be so awesome for you and your family!
Also... I don't know about you, but I've been super bummed about missing five on Friday for the summer. If you're interested my friend Karli {september FARM} and I {the farmer's wife} are starting up a link-up "oh hey, friday!" with the exact same outline and would love for you to join us tomorrow! Hope to see you there.
