The Adventure Starts Here: A Year of Dates

A Year of Dates

Saying it's hard to shop for Chris is an understatement.  Chris isn't a big clothes shopper, and when he needs something he finds the best deal and buys it.  If you ask him what he wants, he says he doesn't need anything.  So besides filling a stocking with little things and getting him some t-shirts, I was really stumped about what to give him.  Then I saw this idea on Pinterest... "A Year of Dates".  This could not have come at a better time, since we have not been on that many dates since Noah was born.  I decided that instead of giving Chris physical items, I would give him the gift of time.

The key to this gift is planning out 12 dates that both of you will enjoy and presenting it in a cute way (though not too girly since it is for a guy).  I made sure there was a mix of simple dates as well as some more elaborate/expensive ones.  I can't really go into detail, since Chris won't be finding out what each date is until that month (or a few days before).

On Christmas, Chris opened a box and inside were 12 envelopes (for each month) tied together with some string.  Since opening 12 sealed envelopes can be kind of confusing, I made up a little explanation to act as a cover for the gift.  Each envelope contains a piece of paper that explains what the date is for the month.  The dates are pre-planned and many are even pre-paid.  At the beginning of the month, we open the envelope together and pick a day to have the date.

On Christmas Day,  I let Chris open a few months, because I wanted him to see that we were going to Rock of Ages (in Morristown) for our March date.  I love his reaction (and my face) in this picture!

I can't wait to go on all these dates with Chris... it will be so special to have the one on one time with him again.  I will be sure to recap the dates here each month... so stay tuned!
