One Month left!

There is officially one month left until my due date!  I know it's pretty rare for people to go on their exact due date, but I feel like it means I'm in the home stretch!

Sometimes I can't believe that he will be here that soon, and other times I want him to hurry up and get here so I can finally hold him!  I go for my last ultrasound next week (just shy of 37 weeks) and we will find out how big he is.  If he's a good size I know I'll want him out sooner even more!

I am in love!  I can't wait to meet him in person!

35 Weeks!

How far along?  35 weeks
Baby Size: should be over 5 lbs at this point
Total weight gain/loss:  35 lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely, I'm huge!
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  Sleep is hard.  Getting up and moving is becoming painful.  I thought getting up to use the bathroom was annoying enough, but add having to collect it for a 24 hour urine test, and it makes it almost unbearable!
Best moment this week:    Finding out my good friend had her baby girl on Tuesday!
Miss Anything?  Not worrying.  With all the swelling and talk of high blood pressure, there's always something to worry about.
Movement:  He's still moving a lot.  I can't wait to see if I'll eventually see a fist or a leg through my belly!
Food Cravings:  Not so bad this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick?  This week I was okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  Still getting some cramping and abdominal pains.  They are monitoring me.
Symptoms:  This week the swelling got really bad, combined with a headache.  The doctor was concerned about high blood pressure and had me do a 24 hour urine test.
Belly Button in or out?  It's sticking out a little at the top and flat on the bottom.
Wedding rings on or off? Nothing's changed... they are still off.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, but definitely getting to the point where I just want this baby to arrive healthy!
Looking forward to:  Getting my results from the urine test.  I'm also very excited that my newest nephew will be born this week!!!

Our new car!

Chris and I got a new car since we knew our 2 door Civic wasn't going to cut it with our growing family.  We test drove the 2012, but we decided to pre-order a 2013 in the model and color we wanted. Originally they thought it would arrive mid October, but instead it arrived early and we picked it up a little over 2 weeks ago.

Last Monday, since Chris had off from work, we took the time to read the instructions and figured out how to install the base/car seat.  It honestly wasn't as hard as I expected with the Latch System.

The next step is getting it inspected to make sure we installed it correctly.  Unfortunately this has not been as easy as I suspected.  Chris had to make many calls and leave a lot of messages to the Morristown police station.  He finally got a call back saying they don't do it, but to call the fire station.  Shocking, they say they don't do it and to call the police station!  I decided to call the police station in the town we grew up in and we are waiting for a call back from them to hopefully make an appointment.  Wish us luck!

34 Weeks!

How far along?  34 weeks
Baby Size: 4+ lbs
Total weight gain/loss:  28+ lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  Sleep is getting harder as I get bigger and bigger.  I also struggle falling back to sleep between 5 and 7 am.
Best moment this week:    Many things!  I had my breastfeeding class and we got together with some friends.
Miss Anything?  Being able to roll over without pain, get up from a chair like a normal person, and no longer waddle.
Movement:  Baby Flinn moves a lot!  Especially early in the morning before I get up for the day and right before bedtime.
Food Cravings:  The usual suspects.
Anything making you queasy or sick?  This week I was okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  Still getting some light cramping, but since they haven't gotten worse I'm not concerned.
Symptoms:  All the usual symptoms, just getting worse.  The sciatica sneaks up on me faster, the hands and feet hurt first thing in the morning (from the swelling), and the heartburn can get pretty bad.
Belly Button in or out?  It's now sticking out a little at the top and flat on the bottom.
Wedding rings on or off? Nothing's changed... they are still off.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy, but I am definitely emotional.  I tear up very easily when we watch TV.
Looking forward to:  Tonight is our last child birth class and we get to meet a potential pediatrician :)  I'm also super excited that one of my best friends will most likely have her baby girl today!

3 years ago, Chris took me to my first Penn State Football game.  Afterwards when we were at the Nittany Lion Statue, he surprised me and proposed.  Of course I said yes, and the rest is history.

I absolutely loved my ring... and I still do!

After our engagement we started a tradition of going back to the football game closest to October 10th and then stopping by the Nittany Lion Statue for an annual picture.

2010

2011

This year, I wasn't able to go to the football game because at 33 weeks I'm really not up for a weekend away and with my sciatica I physically can't handle all the walking and standing it involves.  Instead, Chris went to the game (which turned out to be Homecoming this year) with his dad.  Hopefully we will be able to make it back there again in future years... next year maybe we can bring Baby Flinn to be in the picture as well!

Hospital Bag is Packed!

I'm not sure if I'm nesting or if this is just my normal personality.  I've always been a very organized person who makes list after list.  When we travel, I make an itinerary and plan my outfits for each day we are gone and then from there make a packing list.  I also usually pack way ahead of time!  Since I'm like this normally, I'm not surprised at all that I've done a fair bit of research and made lots of lists of what to pack in my hospital bag.  I decided to have 2 bags, one that comes in with us when I go into labor, and another that I will use once we are in the recovery room.

The "labor" bag includes:
 Pillow
Body lotion (maybe Chris will give me a hand massage to distract me from the pain)
Face lotion
Chapstick (I'm told your lips can get very dry with all the breathing, and I just love Chapstick), Headbands and hair ties (to keep my sweaty hear out of my face)
Heating pad (I'm told it could help with the pain by putting on my back or shoulders)
Flip Flops (to walk around)
Comfy socks (in case I get cold)
Eye Mask (once I get my epidural, if I want to get some sleep in the bright hospital room)
Lollipops (since I won't be able to eat during labor, I've been told lollipops are a good alternative)
Protein bars (for Chris)

They are not packed yet, but I will also be bringing a camera, flip camera (just in case I want some parts of it documented), my iPad, my phone, and of course all the chargers.

Once we are in the recovery room, Chris will go grab the other bag that has all my stuff for the next 2-4 days (you never know for sure that you won't need a C-section) as well as stuff for Baby Flinn.

The "recovery" bag includes:
Nursing Nightgowns with matching robes
Nursing Bra
More socks
Toiletries
Minimal Makeup
Boppy Pillow
Snacks
Nightlight (I'm told this will help with sleeping with all the hospital lights)
Baby Book (so I can get the hand and footprint right in the book)
Nikon Camera (I hope to get some nice shots during our hospital stay)
Going Home Outfit

For Baby Flinn:
Nightgowns
Kimono Outfits
Undershirts
Hats
Swaddle Blankets
Mittens
Going Home Outfit

I figure I'll use the diapers and other like things that the hospital provides.  I'm sure there will be many things I won't use at all, as well as things I may wish I had.  Thankfully we live about 5 minutes away from the hospital, so Chris or my mom can always make a quick trip home to get anything I want.

And of course we will have the car seat waiting in the car so we can head home as a family of 3!!!

Is there anything you think I'm missing???

33 Weeks!

How far along?  33 weeks
Baby Size: a little over 4 lbs
Total weight gain/loss:  28 lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  When I'm asleep I'm fine, but it's tough when I need to turn and it's getting harder to get up out of bed when I need to use the bathroom.
Best moment this week:    Getting our new CR-V!
Miss Anything?  Not really anything.
Movement:  Moving constantly, he's very active!
Food Cravings:  The usual suspects.
Anything making you queasy or sick?  This week I was okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  This week I started getting menstrual like cramps and lower back pain.  I asked my doctor if this was normal at my last visit and she said it could mean pre-term labor, but she did an exam and said I looked okay.  She said if the pain became more frequent and last longer to call.
Symptoms:  I guess just add the cramping and lower back pain to the list of symptoms.
Belly Button in or out?  Still not fully out but it's pretty much flat now.
Wedding rings on or off? Nothing's changed... they are still off.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Very happy!  But I wish I didn't look so tired in pictures!
Looking forward to:  Having our car seat installed.  I'm also very excited to get our changing table delivered (it was backordered).

32 Weeks!

How far along?  32 weeks
Baby Size: probably around 4 lbs
Total weight gain/loss:  26+ lbs
Maternity clothes:  Definitely
Stretch marks:  None yet
Sleep:  Sleep was a little harder this week because the heartburn got bad this week.
Best moment this week:    Finding out our CR-V will be coming in sooner than we expected!  Also, getting to see all of our maternity photos!
Miss Anything?  Not really anything.
Movement:  Still moving all the time.  Definitely becoming more of the side to side movements that are often uncomfortable to me.
Food Cravings:  I still love my Skittles!
Anything making you queasy or sick?  This week I was okay.
Gender:  BOY!!!
Labor Signs?  Thankfully, no!
Symptoms:  It seems like the sciatica and swollen hands are here to stay.  The heartburn has gotten bad this week.  It used to only be at night but now I'm getting it earlier in the day as well.  I also have had some random moments of feeling lightheaded and I get winded really easily.
Belly Button in or out?  Protruding more each day.
Wedding rings on or off? Nothing's changed... they are still off.
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Very happy!
Looking forward to:  Getting our new car!!!  I don't think Chris is as excited about having to figure out how to install the car seat though!
