Baby Noah - Week 5

Weight:  Well we were way off on his weight... last week we thought he weighed about 8 lbs.  We went to the doctor yesterday and he weighed 10 lbs 5 oz!!!  We were absolutely shocked.  He is now 22 inches long... he grew another inch since his last visit.

Health:  The doctor said he's doing well.  We were concerned about his very heavy breathing at night, but the doctor said that as long as it's not labored loud breathing is not an issue.  He got his second Hepatitis B shot on Thursday and this time he cried a little, but as soon as I picked him up he was okay.  I'm getting nervous about his first set of shots.

Sleep: He never sleeps for longer than 3 hours at a time.  We are hoping that by increasing the amount of ounces he drinks at a feeding will help that.  On Tuesday we started putting Noah in our room at night.  The first night he did okay, but the second night he was pretty loud and didn't sleep long.  So at 3 am I brought him in the living room until 6am.

Clothes: Considering he now weighs over 10 lbs I'm not shocked that he is in all 0-3 size clothes!  My mom is concerned he won't fit into his 0-3 Christmas outfits by Christmas!

Social: No visitors this week, but we did head down to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a walk on Tuesday.  It was a super mild December day... 65 degrees out!  It was a short walk just up and down my parents' street, but he seemed to enjoy it.

Diet: Breastmilk and formula still.  This week I was averaging about 20 oz of pumped breast milk each day... every day it increases which is great!

On Tuesday I gave him a pre-packaged formula bottle when we were at Grandma and Grandpa's house and it did not sit well in his stomach.  He was spitting up more than usual and he worked himself into this position to make his tummy feel better.

Baby Gear Love: This week we got a swing for Noah... I really hope he likes it.

Crying: This week he had a few instances where he worked himself up so much during diaper changes that there were real tears... it broke my heart!  There were also two times where he woke up from a nap and immediately started crying because he was hungry.  Usually he slowly shows he's hungry by rooting and chewing on his hands which gives me time to get him a bottle.  It was tough when his hunger hit immediately and I couldn't get him a bottle fast enough!

Likes: Walks in his stroller, car rides, mild December days, and playing on the floor with grandma.

Noah also seems to enjoy his bath now.

Milestones: Noah "decorated" his first Christmas tree.

Noah went for his first walk!  It was also his first time at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

This week was the first time that he slept in our room at night since the first night we were home!

This week he had his first "big bottle".  The doctor suggested making a bigger bottle and offering him more at each feeding to see if it will make him sleep for longer stretches.

Postpartum: I'm doing well.  I felt great after my first walk.  We didn't go far, but I was surprised that it didn't tire me out like I thought it would.

We got all of the pictures back from our newborn session with Amy.  Once we send out our announcements and Christmas cards I will post the pictures here.
